| Built at the Glenn L Martin factory at Baltimore, Maryland as a B-26B-45-MA. Accepted by the Army Air Force on 9/11/43. Next listed at Pittsburgh, Ohio (ATC) from 4/12/43, then flown by Cincinatti, Ohio (ATC Ferry) from 9/12/43, to Godman Field, Fort Knox, Kentucky (from 11/12/43), and assigned to the 391st BG. Flown overseas to the UK via the Southern Ferry Route (Listed as Carribean Wing), departing the USA on 7/1/44. The aircraft record card then lists, SOXO A (Europe - 8th AF) on 7/1/44, and SOXO R (Europe - 8th AF) from 30/1/44. Original group aircraft ferried over from the USA by 1st Lt. Glenn D Kelly and crew. Shot down by flak on the 27/5/44 mission to the Maison Laffitte railroad bridge, France. The aircraft flown by Capt. James Franklin Shofner took a hit in the right engine setting it on fire approximately one minute after bomb release. The aircraft was then seen falling out of formation with the prop feathered and under control. The fire was extinguished and the pilot set for home, but was hit by light flak from the vicinity of Louvieres and crashed soon after, 1km North of Crisy, about 6 miles NW of Pontoise, France. All the crew bailed out and were captured. T/Sgt. Holdridge was transferred to the Air Force Hospital at Paris-Clichy with fractures to both ankles and a leg. See 42-95805 for a bizarre incident.
