Station: 166
Target: Airfield at Evreux/Fauville, France
Time Of Take-Off: 07:52 / Time Over Target: 09:36 / Time Landed: 11:05
36 B-26 were dispatched to attack an enemy Airfield at Evreux/Fauville, France. Each aircraft was loaded with 8x500LB General Purpose bombs with bombing to be done by boxes of 18 aircraft. RAF Spitfires would be providing escort for the formation.
The formation experienced 7 to 10 tenths cloud enroute, and 10 tenths over the target area which totally obscured the target. Unable to locate the target, the formation did not drop and returned with 281 of the 288 bombs loaded on the aircraft.
Requests for warm gloves and sunglasses for gunners, and back pack parachutes for pilots continue. Complaints about transportation to and from the aircraft hardstands, and the food also continue.
