36 B-26 plus 5 spares were dispatched to attack the enemy airfield at Gilze/Rijen, Netherlands. Each aircraft was loaded with 20x100LB General Purpose bombs with RAF 11 Group providing fighter escort and support. Moderate, Accurate FLAK encountered over target. S/Sgt Roy J. McKinney in Miller's top turret was slightly wounded by broken plexi-glass caused by FLAK damage.
623x100LB General Purpose bombs were dropped. southwest dispersal area and south part of west dispersal area were partially hit. The 3 ammo dumps of southwest dispersal area were partially hit. Ammunition dump northeast of southwest dispersal area were also partially hit. Results were assessed as GOOD. However, Bomber command was not impressed with the fact that 3 spares accompanied the formation to target !
