Delivered from the Martin Omaha plant. Next listed at Omaha, Nebraska (ATC) on 8/3/44, and Rosecrans, Missouri (ATC) on 8/3/44. Then flown to the 3rd AF staging area at Hunter Field, Savannah, Georgia (from 9/3/44). Flown overseas to the UK via the Southern Ferry Route, as a 9th AF replacement aircraft, departing the USA on 21/3/44. The record card then lists, SOXO A (Europe) on 20/3/44, and, SOXO 9AF R (Europe) on 19/4/44. Entered combat with the 391st BG / 572nd BS on 13/5/44. The aircraft was first assigned to pilot Lt. John W Blute who named the aircraft after his wife Virginia Glancy. Damaged Cat.3 in a mid air collision with 42-95809 over Station 166, Matching Green, Essex on 21/6/44 flown by Lt. John W Blute. The aircraft was repaired. Later flown by pilots Lt. Roy E. Russell, and Ken Chapin. Went on to fly over 130 combat missions by April 1945, when the aircraft was transferred out, after the group converted to the Douglas A-26. The final entry on the aircraft record card lists, GLUE CON SAL FEA on 18/2/46.
