Delivered by air from the Martin Baltimore plant to the Rome Air Depot (Modification Centre), New York, from 15/4/43. Then went to Romulus Army Air Field, Michigan (from 13/6/43). Then flown by New Castle (2nd Ferry Group), Wilmington, Deleware (from 24/6/43), to Presque Isle, Maine (from 28/6/43), from where it was flown to the UK via the Northern Ferry Route. Next listed as, UGLY A (Europe - 8th AF) from 1/7/43, and UGLY R (Europe - 8th AF) from 13/7/43. Flown overseas by 2nd Lt. Max M Martin. Shot down by flak on the 27/5/44 mission to the Maison Laffitte railroad bridge. The right engine was hit and set on fire. The aircraft flown by 2nd Lt. Donat Francis Dauteuil was seen to peel off to the right of the formation at 45 degrees, hitting the ground and exploding at Les-Vallois, in the vicinity of Avernes, about 5 miles NE of Evreux, France. Six parachutes were spotted. 4 of the crew were captured by the Germans, the other 2 managed to evade capture. MACR lists this aircraft as 574th BS. Engines, P&W R-2800-43, serials: 42-50803 (left), and, 42-50789 (right). The final entry on the aircraft record card lists, CON AFMSC GLUE on 29/5/44. Note, there is no mention on the aircraft record card that this aircraft was converted to a B-26B-20, and just refers to a B-26B-1 model.
