Then flown to the 3rd AF staging area at Hunter Field, Savannah, Georgia (from 4/4/44), and on to Homestead Army Air Field, Florida (from 14/4/44), from where the aircraft was flown overseas to the UK via the Southern Ferry Route, as a 9th AF replacement aircraft, departing the USA on 16/4/44. The record card then lists, SOXO A (Europe) on 15/4/44, GLUE 9AF R (Europe) on 27/4/44. Entered combat with the 391st BG / 572nd BS on 6/6/44. Also known as "Dode Lee's Memphis Blues". Crashed on take off from A-73 Roye / Amy, France on 8/3/45 after a tire blew out. The aircraft flown by 2nd Lt. John L Chatellier suffered Cat.4 damage and was written off. The final entry on the aircraft record card lists, GLUE CON SAL NBD on 9/3/45.
