Then flown by Nashville, Tennessee (ATC Ferry) from 30/3/44, to the 3rd AF staging area at Hunter Field, Savannah, Georgia (from 31/3/44), and on to Homestead Army Air Field, Florida (from 14/4/44), from where the aircraft was flown overseas to the UK via the Southern Ferry Route, as a 9th AF replacement aircraft, departing the USA on 16/4/44. The record card then lists, SOXO A (Europe) on 15/4/44, and, GLUE 9AF R (Europe) on 28/4/44. Entered service with the 391st BG / 573rd BS on 28/5/44. Badly damaged by fighters on the 23/12/44 Ahrweiler mission. Flying on one engine, pilot 2nd Lt. Frank P Dillard made it back to base. Repaired. Damaged Cat.3 in a landing accident at A-73 Roye / Amy, France on 21/3/45 flown by Philip S Walter. May have damaged 42-107620, which was damaged in a ground accident at A-73 Airfield on the same day. The final entry on the aircraft record card lists, GLUE CON SAL FEA on 18/12/45.
