Shot down by flak on the 7/6/44 mission to bomb RR sidings at Briouze, France. Four chutes were spotted, but only 2 crew survived. Pilot 2nd Lt. Leroy R Sullivan was killed. Aircraft were forced to bomb from only 3,100 feet due to cloud cover over the target, and were targeted by light flak positions. The aircraft took multiple hits shortly after bombs away, and crashed in a field North of Briouze, between the German and allied lines. It went in at an angle striking the ground right wing down, broke apart, but did not explode. The two survivors who were both injured, were picked up by Canadian soldiers who were passing the wreckage stren across the field, and also noted three dead crew members. The final entries on the aircraft record card list, GLUE 9AF CON AFMSC on 8/6/44, and, SOXO CON MIA on 8/6/44.
