Then flown by Memphis, Tennessee (ATC Ferry) from 15/4/44, to the 3rd AF staging area at Hunter Field, Savannah, Georgia (from 17/4/44), and on to Homestead Army Air Field, Florida (from 25/4/44), from where the aircraft was flown overseas to the UK via the Southern Ferry Route, as a 9th AF replacement aircraft, departing the USA on 27/4/44. The record card then lists, GLUE 9AF A (Europe) on 26/4/44, and, GLUE 9AF R (Europe) on 11/5/44. The aircraft was paid for by donations from the city of Omaha, Nebraska. The name is Nebraska, backwards. The aircraft had the city's shield painted on it. Entered combat with the 391st BG / 575th BS on 30/6/44. Badly flak damaged on the 7/10/44 mission to the supply depot at Euskirchen, Germany, flown by 1st Lt. Herschel S Harkins. The aircraft made it back to base, but was sent to the service group for assessment and salvaged by the 87th Air Service Squadron on 8/10/44. The final entry on the aircraft record card lists, SOXO CON SAL NBD on 8/10/44.
