Built at the Glenn L Martin factory at Baltimore, Maryland as a B-26B-50-MA. Accepted by the Army Air Force on 7/12/43. Next listed at Morris Field, Charlotte, North Carolina (ATC) from 15/12/43. Then flown to the 3rd AF staging area at Hunter Field, Savannah, Georgia (from 16/12/43). Assigned to the 8th AF at Hunter Field. Next went to Morrison Field, West Palm Beach, Florida (from 29/12/43) from where the aircraft was flown overseas to the UK via the Southern Ferry Route (Listed as Carribean Wing), departing the USA on 31/12/43. The aircraft record card then lists, SOXO A (Europe - 8th AF) on 31/12/43, and SOXO R (Europe - 8th AF) from 30/1/44. Damaged Cat.3 in a landing accident at Station 166, Matching Green on 15/3/44 flown by Samuel S Lowenthal. The aircraft was repaired. Shot down by flak on the 28/5/44 mission to the Amiens Marshalling yards. The aircraft flown by 1st Lt. Harry D Porter was hit by a flak burst under the right wing which damaged the right engine. The aircraft weaved about in the formation narrowly missing other aircraft as the pilot struggled to regain control. After several near misses the aircraft dropped away into the cloud and crashed. Although no chutes were spotted by other aircraft, six chutes were spotted by observers on the ground. The final entries on the aircraft record card list, GLUE 9AF CON AFMSC on 29/5/44, and, SOXO MIA on 29/5/44.
