Then flown to the 3rd AF staging area at Hunter Field, Savannah, Georgia (from 8/3/44), and on to Homestead Army Air Field, Florida (from 14/3/44), from where the aircraft was flown overseas to the UK via the Southern Ferry Route, as a 9th AF replacement aircraft, departing the USA on 16/3/44. The record card then lists, SOXO A (Europe) on 16/3/44, and, SOXO R (Europe) on 26/3/44. Entered combat with the 391st BG / 574th BS on 3/4/44. Suffered flak damage to the starboard wing on 15/6/44, flown by Lt. L A Schreiber. The aircraft was sent to the service group for repairs, and was struck off the 391st BG inventory.
