Aircraft history for serial number: 42-96295 (kindly provided by Paul Clouting).
Built at the Glenn L Martin factory at Baltimore, Maryland as a B-26F-1-MA. Accepted by the Army Air Force on 6/3/44. Then listed as flown by Baltimore, Maryland (ATC) from 13/3/44, to the 3rd AF staging area at Hunter Field, Savannah, Georgia (from 13/3/44), and on to Homestead Army Air Field, Florida (from 4/4/44), from where the aircraft was flown overseas to the UK via the Southern Ferry Route, departing the USA on 4/4/44. The aircraft record card then lists, SOXO 9AF A (Europe - 9th AF) from 3/4/44, and SOXO 9AF R (Europe - 9th AF) from 19/4/44. Entered combat with the 391st BG / 575th BS on 6/8/44. Transferred out of the group in April 1945 when the 391st BG converted to the Douglas A-26. We have seen a shot of this a/c on a clour film, and the code looks more like 08-D, not 08-O as listed, needs confirmation.
