Built at the Glenn L Martin factory at Baltimore, Maryland as a B-26B-50-MA. Accepted by the Army Air Force on 6/12/43. Then flown by New Castle (2nd Ferry Group), Wilmington, Deleware (from 13/12/43), to Spartanburg, South Carolina (ATC) from 15/12/43, and on to the 3rd AF staging area at Hunter Field, Savannah, Georgia (from 16/12/43). Flown overseas to the UK via the Southern Ferry Route (Listed as Carribean Wing), departing the USA on 1/1/44. The aircraft record card then lists, SOXO A (Europe - 8th AF) on 1/1/44, and SOXO R (Europe - 8th AF) from 30/1/44. Entered service with the 1st Pathfinder SQN on 14/6/44. Crashed on landing at A-61 Beauvais / Tille, France at 1204 hours on 1/12/44. Mud had got into the down lock mechanism causing the left main undercarriage to collapse on landing. The aircraft flown by 1st Lt. Francis E Brown suffered Cat.4 damage and was salvaged on 3/12/44. The crew escaped uninjured. The final entry on the aircraft record card lists, GLUE 9AF CON SAL NBD on 3/12/44.
