Built at the Glenn L Martin factory at Baltimore, Maryland as a B-26B-45-MA. Accepted by the Army Air Force on 5/11/43. Next listed at Pittsburgh, Ohio (ATC) from 4/12/43, Patterson Field, Ohio (ATC) from 10/12/43, and Godman Field, Fort Knox, Kentucky (from 11/12/43), and assigned to the 391st BG. Collided with rising terrain and crashed near Colesburg, Kentucky at 1909 hours CWT on 23/12/43, killing the crew of four. The aircraft flown by 1st Lt. Howard M Stimm, had taken off from Godman Field, Fort Knox, Kentucky on a night training mission, and crashed into the slope of a steep hill while making a steep descending turn to the right, exploding in flames upon impact. The investigtors speculated that the pilot had been blinded by three search lights that were trained on the aircraft, or that he had been trying to manouvre to avoid the search lights. The final entry on the aircraft record card lists, "Crashed on 24/12/43".
