Delivered by air from the Martin Baltimore plant to MacDill Field, Tampa Bay, Florida (from 23/4/43). Next went to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (from 7/7/43), where it was used for 391st BG training. The Aviation Archeology web site lists this aircraft as being damaged cat.4 in a taxiing accident at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on 25/6/43 during training. The pilot is listed as Peter Metelsky (391st BG / 574th BS in training). The aircraft must have been repaired, as it is next listed at Hunter Field, Savannah, Georgia (from 27/7/43). Flown overseas with the group for combat in the ETO and flew out of Matching Green, Essex. Pilot listed as Lt. Herman Littell Crim. The final entry on the aircraft record card lists, Surveyed on 1/10/43. Note, there is no mention on the aircraft record card that this aircraft was converted to a B-26B-20, and just refers to a B-26B-1 model. The details we have for this aircraft need confirmation. The combat details we have need checking. It is possible that this aircraft was salvaged in the USA, and did not fly overseas with the 391st BG and enter combat. See details for 42-107740.
