Mission No. 184
10 Nov 1944
Station: A-73
Target: Ordnance and Artillery Camp at Landau, Germany
Time Of Take-Off: 09:29 / Time Over Target: 00:00 / Time Landed: 11:55
30 B-26 plus 2 Pathfinder aircraft loaded with 4x1000LB General Purpose bombs were dispatched to attack an enemy Ordnance and Artillery Camp at Landau, Germany. The camp is a very large and very active training center. Destruction of this target will reduce the enemy's capacity to reinforce the Metz area. 19th Tactical Air Command will furnish escort.
Weather conditions enroute were 10/10 cloud, bases at 2,500 feet and tops at 8,000 feet just south of Trier inside Germany. 10/10 multi layer clouds with tops at 15,000 feet east of Trier.
No FLAK was encountered enroute or over the target area.
As the Pathfinder aircraft could not pick up their navigation radio signal, the formation was ordered to return to base just south of Trier.
Crews reported that there was some jamming at 10:55, where an enemy radio station interfered with the A-73 buncher beacon. The navigator checked the bearing indicated which seemed incorrect and found 4 aural nuls. The enemy nul being indicated by the R/C needle !
